The superparamagnetic 5- and 11-nm γ-Fe 2O 3 and ferrimagnetic 19-nm Fe 3O 4 particles were easily prepared by thermal decomposition of Fe(CO) 5 in the presence of residual oxygen of the system and by consecutive aeration, and their magnetic properties were investigated.
